Tanka Girl
A tanka is kinda like a haiku, but with 5 lines and more syllables. These are from a timed exercise – working with the theme of the four seasons.
WINTER
What the?! Who is THAT?!
Who IS that?! No…really. WHAT?!
You must be kidding.
That old lady there is me?!
Damn mirror must be broken.
|
SPRING
Celebrate Easter
With cocoa bunnies. What for?
What about Jesus?
Chocolate Christ on a cross
Must not be a big seller.
|
SUMMER
Step up to the plate
Game face on – glare at rivals
From dug outs come dueling cheers
“Pitcher’s got a…”, “…batter, swing!”
First inning of the season.
|
FALL
Little white Honda
How many unpaid tickets?
Beware of “car”-ma.
You are begging to be caught
Transporting drugs in your trunk.
